But what about golem? Bára can´t wait to meet him!

Vikings are well-known all around the world. But what about Varangians? Are they the same - or not? And - are the warriors on the dragon ship Vikings having NO horned helmets? Bára is a bit confused. And finally, after several attempts, she is there! But! By a twist of fate instead of the Achaean camp she finds herself in Troy under siege. But the fates of the heroes on both sides are so interwoven that if the Trojan prince Hector should survive than Patroclus must be saved too. Therefore Bára has only one choice: to set on a life threatening journey to the camp of Achaeans...

Pirates

Adventure in the Thirty-years War

It seems that the main concern of people living in Iceland is to survive the freezing cold and find something to eat. It is quite a challenge; for instance collecting ordinary eggs is an expedition worth Tarzan himself as the men rope down severe cliffs and hang above the thundering tide with no climbing equipment to secure them. What´ s more: people live in molehills there. Really! The roof is overgrown by grass and the house looks like a mound from outside. But the Icelanders manage. They are well accustomed to their struggle with nature. But one - exceptionally beautiful - day pirate ships from distant north Africa appear near their coast...

Leonardo da Vinci

Mona Lisa Smile

Florence in the fifteenth century is a charming town which is home to many renowned artists whose works are admired even in the twenty-first century. But the town is also a stage for a fierce fight between two rich and powerful families – the Medici and Pazzi family. And – unwittingly - Bára becomes part of the fight; she needn't do much, just be in the right place at the right time and a message for one of the Medici family gets by, sheer chance, in her hands. Her new friends, Sandro and Leonardo, help her to get out of the situation. Being friends with Leonardo, is, after all, a never-ending adventure: a secret construction of a hand-glider would be an exciting adventure even today, let alone in 1470! It's a good thing that at least Sandro is the one with a common sense... Anyway, have you always wished to solve the mystery who did Leonardo da Vinci portray as Mona Lisa? Just open the book and read the story.

Saint Venceslaus

It Ends Not With Murder

Every little child knows that Saint Wenceslas was murdered by his brother Boleslav. Well … they think they know. However, Bára is an eyewitness to what really happened.

Saint Wenceslas Chant is a beautiful piece, it is far from being presented as a chant though. Well, it was not composed in Wencesla's times. Very little sheet music has been preserved from that period. It was probably composed in 12th century.

Arabia

That ruin in the middle of the desert looked like an excellent refuge from the Bedouins. They were afraid to enter it because they believed it was inhabited by demons. But one man had the courage. To Bara's astonishment, he spoke Czech! Who is this Bedouin sheikh? What is he so interested in in a half-ruined castle in the arid wasteland? And why will Bára have to go with him on a life-threatening journey through the desert to Damascus?

Korea

What must happen for the prophecy spoken ages ago to come true? And does a man even have a chance to influence what was once prophecied? Especially when he knows that someone's life depends on its fulfillment, but by telling anyone aobout it, he risks his own? This is exactly the situation that Bára finds herself in when she is in the middle of a war between Korea and Japan. An encounter with a genuine mermaid and being confused for a hungry demon were among the less dramatic incidents...

Scotland

No one had remembered such a hard winter as in 1692 for years. Blizzard followed blizzard, and the snow was waist-deep rather than knee-deep. When the frost-bitten royal soldiers came to the picturesque Glencoe valley to collect taxes, the MacIains took them under their roofs because so says the law of Scottish hospitality. Little did anyone know at the time that an order would come that would turn a peaceful coexistence into a bloodbath. And Bára could never have known that her search for the person who gave the order would lead her to the court of King Louis XIV of France.

Realm of Samo

What happens when a little slave girl overhears a conversation she definitely shouldn't have heard? And yet inadvertently reveals it to someone who doesn't need the conversation to be known? That's right - she needs to be moved out of the way! This was exactly the situation that Bára found herself in, while discovering that what she remembered from her history book about the Samo Empire was actually somewhat different. But no one would ever believe her, even if she did escape the dangerous schemes of the men hungry for power.

French revolution

Even in the spring of 1793, the small town near Paris lived a peaceful life and there was no indication that a revolution was raging in France. Meeting the most educated and progressive ladies of the time was interesting but, frankly, a littel boring. Bara was quite happy to find herself back in her own time rather quickly. But... But then she discovered that a number of her new friends were facing death by guillotine, and decided to return to warn them. But in the meantime, the Jacobins have come to power in France, and now it is Bara whose life is under threat...

Celts

Druid´ s treasure

This Bára story is probably the most mystical yet. I don't think it could have been any different, meeting druids who possessed knowledge we can't even dream of today. Plus, Bara found out that she had already met the druid Kengetorig once before - in his past. She has yet to have this encounter. A bit convoluted, for someone who comes, as the druid says, from the unchanted world…
